The Capitals, with Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom still on the bench, won on a 1st period, 15th minute goal behind Tomas Vokoun’s 2nd shutout of the season. The Penguins managed 30 shots on goal, but Vokoun stopped all of them in route to a 1-0 victory. The contest was one comparable to a baseball pitchers’ duel. Only two power plays were gained and only 14 total penalty minutes.
The Lakers are on fire, picking up their 4th straight win in overtime over the Jazz. Kobe only dropped 40.
The Heat picked up their 2nd straight loss in overtime at the Clippers. LeBron managed 24, while Chris Paul scored 27 and added 11 assists as the Clippers moved to 5-3. LeBron choked.
Manny Ramirez wants to play this season. His 100 game suspension was reduced by the league to 50. He says he will be a role model for anyone that takes him. He wants to prove that he can still play, show his children that you need to fix your mistakes, and not go out as a quitter.
Some Jets players have anonymously complained about Mark Sanchez and expressed interest in acquiring Peyton Manning. If that were to happen, don’t these players realize that they might be candidates to be traded for said Peyton Manning?
A recent ESPN poll claims that Tim Tebow is America’s favorite athlete. ProfootballTalk has uncovered that ESPN polled 1,502 people. 45 of them said “Tebow.” 45! How convenient, to do a poll right after Tebow’s Broncos upset the Steelers. And how convenient to do an open poll. Give them options, then see who they say.
Wisconsin’s Russell Wilson, whose baseball rights are owned by the Colorado Rockies, will join the NFL instead. Dude’s got amazing baseball ability. Why go be a 3rd stringer for the rest of your life?
